This month, Ambassadors and Consuls took part in our worldwide #ExperienceInterNations contest and went above and beyond by organizing amazing official events and activities. Our communities around the world had a blast, from networking during a sundowner to taking an adventurous trip!

Dressing up always puts everyone in a good mood! On Friday, 3 May, the Johannesburg Community brightened up the bowling lane with InterNations colors, while enjoying great chats and good drinks. InterNations Official Events are always a good idea when it comes to having fun with expats and global minds! The Montpellier Community met up at Pizza Burger et Compagnie on Thursday, 9 May, for a change of pace with good wine, delicious pizzas, and French crêpes. We hope you all had fun in Guangzhou, celebrating Hannah’s last event as an InterNations Ambassador! Hosted at the Fuel rooftop lounge, it was the perfect location to mingle with a cocktail in hand and enjoy the Pearl River views. The Istanbul Kadiköy Lovers Group welcomed the month of May with a classic Turkish breakfast at Cemile Sultan Koru Restaurant. Our members made the most of this spectacular and elegant venue, by admiring the stunning view of the Bosporus, the strait of Istanbul, and by taking astonishing shots from the terrace. Our members put their sunglasses on and raised their glasses, as the sun went down in Muscat on Saturday, 4 May. Of course, they didn’t miss the chance to get inspired and capture the breathtaking sunset, while enjoying the relaxed atmosphere. For those who love panoramic views, our Los Angeles Community will celebrate Memorial Day together and hit the Above Sixty rooftop restaurant on Monday, 27 May. Be sure to purchase your ticket and wear classy all-white attire for this special occasion.
If you are in Brussels, why don’t you join La Dolce Vita Group? Expats and global minds will dress up in smart white clothes to celebrate summer with good drinks and a lot of fun on Wednesday, 29 May. Since this group is participating in our Best View Contest, there will be a professional group photo taken. So, don’t forget to bring your best smile and your favorite pose!

On Sunday, 12 May, the Paris Brunch & Picnic Group gathered in Square Maurice Gardette and made the most of this perfect location, sharing food and listening to live music under a famous kiosque à musique. Cheering at Lucca Cucina Italiana, on Wednesday, 15 May, the Brussels Wine Tasting Group participated to our Best View Contest and dressed up for a German wine tour. The night was filled with sophisticated wines, spectacular views, and an amazing sunset. Thank you, Marwan Chab and Anne-Catherine Lepers, for hosting this event and making members discovering a taste of Germany!

Our activity host Maria Ushakova went above and beyond by planning an exciting Armenia and Georgia tour! Ready for the adventure, the Moscow Travel Group put their backpacks on and left on Wednesday, 1 May. The eleven days trip was a big success as members discovered the two amazing regions, while visiting beautiful monasteries, typical wineries, and wonderful mountain lakes.

The Florence Outdoor and Adventure Group came together and spent the morning at the Iris and Rose Garden, walking with blooming and colorful flowers, while having fun taking pictures and enjoying the view of majestic Florence. Massimo Ciotta did a great job hosting this marvelous activity!

We cannot talk about May without mentioning the Eurovision Song Contest! Participating in our InterNations campaign in the Culture Melting Pot category, the Paris Joie de Vivre Group set up a giant screen and spent the night singing and dancing along to songs from all over the world. The Manama Photography Group lived a night to remember at Bushido Restaurant on Wednesday, 15 May, celebrating cultural diversity by enjoying a unique Iftar together. Well done Sharmila Vadi Thota for hosting this superb activity and choosing this wonderful location, decorated with traditional Ramadan décor.
Many other communities around the world are celebrating Ramadan this month! In Marrakech, our Ambassador Catherine Dorey has organized a get-together on Thursday, 30 May. The event will take place at the Radisson Blu roof top bar and is the perfect opportunity for attendants to show off their local outfits or wear their own national dress!

With our online events, members have found many creative ways of connecting with each other. The Seattle and Riga Literature Groups collaborated on microfiction challenges, for instance, and put together an ebook highlighting members’ work. We talked to the Consuls about this wonderful project.
