From Night Fishing to Art Shows: An Eventful April

Of Waterfronts, Fools, and Fishes

On Monday, 1 April, members of the Paris Extraordinaire Group had the rare chance to Go Night Fishing by the Seine. Not only was there fishing, but also the chance to see seahorses and sharks! Attendees could join a competition, too, where whoever caught the biggest fish would win a time machine. Alas, shortly before the exciting event would’ve taken place, Consul Laerke revealed it was just a joke. Poisson d’avril indeed! 😊

Speaking of water. At the end of March, members of the Toronto Singles Group enjoyed a Good Friday Waterfront Walk. Strolling along the beautiful waterfront, they passed Toronto Music Garden, Little Norway Park, Coronation Park, and Trillium Park. Following their walk, they indulged in delicious delicacy from a Japanese restaurant.

Celebrating Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr

Back in March, the Islamabad Community came together to Welcome Mah E Ramadan and celebrate and share the joy of this sacred month.

Now on Saturday, 13 April, the Melbourne Making Connections Group celebrated Eid Al-Fitr together with a Turkish breakfast. Members shared tasty Turkish delights such as simit, sucuk, and gozleme while having inclusive conversations.

Portrays of Water through Art and Natural Science!

On Sunday, 7 April, the Helsinki Museums and Exhibitions Group visited the Water and Life exhibition at Sinebrychoff Art Museum. Attendees got the opportunity to explore the humans’ journey to water from the 17th century until the present day.

Book Worms & Art Lovers

On Saturday, 13 April, the London Book Group came together to discover The Enchanting World of Charles Dickens. This event took place at The Artful Tea Room, the newly branded gem nestled within the historic Charles Dickens Museum. “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.” — we hope only the first was true in this instance!

Meanwhile, the Stockholm City Trotters Group experienced an evening filled with a wonderful musical performance. On Saturday, 6 April, they visited the Moulin Rouge Musical held at the China Teatern. In addition to enjoying this spectacular show, members sat together to mingle and have drinks.

The Dublin Arts & Culture Group took a closer look at Intriguing Paintings by a Circle of Artists of the XVI-XVII at the National Gallery of Ireland on 11 April. The breathtaking masterpieces by Dutch and Flemish artists of the 16th and 17th centuries that were on display for this special exhibition certainly “turned some heads”.

Art lovers, if you’re in Luxembourg City on 25 April, don’t miss the chance to meet members who you share the same interest at the Art of Words. Or tag along with the Amsterdam Art Group when they’ll visit the Art Brussels 2024 fair on 27 April.

It’s about time to have some wine! Our Hamburg Spontaneous Activities Group will be hosting a Wine Tasting on 20 April. Don’t miss this chance to meet members of the community and enjoy a sip of wine from five different vineyards.

On the same day, you can have a laugh at Failing in Love. Join the Oslo Creative Activities Group at this stand-up comedy show in English about the failures in relationships and love.

Want to brush up your Italian? Then meet with the London Italians at Hampstead Heath on 21 April. The park also includes popular recreational facilities, including three open-air swimming pools.
