91 min, 35mm-to-digital, B&W, rated G | Skippy, Irene Dunne, Cary Grant

Meet Skippy: a plucky Wire Fox Terrier that made moving image history. Skippy stars as Mr Smith, scene-stealing pet to divorcing couple Jerry and Lucy. The charismatic canine becomes the subject of a custody saga and a comic foil, alleviating his parents’ cantankerous antics with acrobatics, playful gags and duets behind the piano.

Preceded by:
The race for the sausage (Director Alice Guy-Blaché, Protected content , USA/France
4 min, 35mm-to-digital, B&W, rated G): A pup encounters an unsupervised string of sausages in this chase caper, one of many early silent shorts to centre animal hijinks. Widely regarded as the world’s first female director, Alice Guy-Blaché ran a studio in Fort Lee, NJ.
