More Information on Verona
Verona is a city in Northeast Italy in the region of Veneto (it only falls behind Venice as biggest city in the province). Verona is an ancient city, founded as a Roman colony due to its crucial position on the junction of several roads. It’s widely regarded as one of the most beautiful cities in Italy (and Europe) and is also the setting of two Shakespeare plays, more famously Romeo and Juliet (you can still go and see Juliet’s balcony). Verona has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site to mark its stunning architecture and history and is a major tourist destination for northern Italy. It has quite a warm climate, with cold and humid winters and is affected partially by the nearby Lake Garda. Italian is of course spoken in Verona and it is fairly standard Italian (much easier to comprehend as a non-native than say the Neapolitan dialect). After a few months we’re sure you’ll be thriving in Verona, make the most of your time here with InterNations.
