Named after the āSpartan Regimentā which fought in the American Revolutionary War, Spartanburg is located in the state of South Carolina. The city has a population of just over 33,000 and is located right at the state border between the two Carolinas. Spartanburg has been boosted by the arrival of BMW to the city in 1992. The German auto giant made the city their only American production facility ā and their biggest worldwide thanks to significant recent investment. The city has a warm climate, with temperatures rarely getting below freezing in the winter and summer days reaching 30 degrees Celsius.
