Embark on Your Life as an Expat in Paraguay

The land-locked country known as the “Heart of South America” is filled with natural landscape, including swamps, subtropical forest and savanna. While Paraguay is not as developed as its many of its South American neighbors, the capital of Asuncion is modernized and is actually one of the most affordable cities in the world. Paraguay is the sixth largest producer of soy in the world and agriculture is one of the country's largest industries. Recently, the country has also seen growth in the pharmaceutical industry. Large numbers of expats in Paraguay volunteer, teach English, or are part of a missionary group, and many are located in the capital, where the main language is Spanish. Outside of the major cities, many people speak the indigenous language of Guarani.

InterNations is the largest global network for expatriates, with communities in 420 cities around the world. Meet fellow global minds in your city of residence or get to know local expatriates before you're moving or traveling abroad and never feel like a stranger. InterNations makes it easy for you to stay in touch with your expat friends, both online and offline, so you can grow your network of friends and contacts from all over the world. Whether they live in United Arab Emirates or Canada, InterNations allows you to be close to them even if they are miles away.

Grow Your Network of Like-Minded Expats from All over the World

Using InterNations is a great way to meet other expats in your new destination and you can feel safe in the knowledge that every member of InterNations has gone through an approval process first and understand the value of upholding our guiding principles of friendliness, open communication, and being welcoming to those from other cultures and backgrounds. When you join InterNations you can not only connect with other expats via the site, but also join interest-based groups and meet like-minded expatriates in person. Particularly with the City Globetrotters group in Asuncion, you don't need to have any specific skills to get involved in the social events. And in case your interests lie somewhere else, feel free to get your own group started to get-together with like-minded expats and global minds! By meeting and getting to know other expats in your new country you will not only learn a lot about your new home, but you will also make new friends. Having a social life is one of the secrets to making your relocation a complete success.
