In September, InterNations celebrated its Sweet 16 — and you wouldn’t believe the number of cake-and sweets-related puns that were flying around in the editorial office.
Just like we couldn’t believe how amazing all those birthday celebrations across the InterNations Communities were! From parties at the pool while dressed in InterNations colors to ferry getaways across the bay, our Ambassadors and Consuls went all out again!
(And of course, there was also plenty of cake. 😉)
“Looking at the world through expat eyes” — what started out as a catchy slogan for our survey back in 2014 has turned into a real mission over the years.
In fact, 2023 marked the tenth anniversary of Expat Insider, one of the world’s largest surveys on living and working abroad. From finances to finding friends (and much more!), over 12,000 expats worldwide once again shared their opinion on life abroad.
Their answers provide in-depth insights into life around the globe. We hope you enjoyed exploring the survey results as much as we did.

Another milestone this year: the InterNations community grew to a whopping 5 million members!
You only need to read some of the inspiring stories members have shared with us to see how InterNations helps to forge new connections — and rekindle old ones. So, here’s to the next 5 million new friends!
Of course, making connections would be much trickier if you couldn’t meet fellow members at events.
So a big “You’re awesome!” goes out to all our hosts around the globe. This year, they organized a total of 5,134 official events and 37,576 activities — and counting!
You truly are the stars of InterNations. 🌟
