Mario Riveiro from Munich, Cristina Causone from Frankfurt, and Trisha Thow from Singapore all posted wonderful pictures showcasing how they celebrated InterNations’ 10th anniversary with their groups. They each won a Hero Sessions GoPro, and we are secretly hoping that this cool gadget will encourage them keep on recording their memories in the making, and sharing with us the precious moments they experience with their group members. So lets dive in and learn a little bit more about these Consuls, and the passions that make them tick!
Since joining InterNations in 2013, Mario has become Consul for the Munich Road and Race Cycling Group as well as the Munich Triathlon Group. A true hard-core athlete, Mario was keen to share his love of sports with other members. To mark InterNations 10th anniversary, he and his friend and fellow cycler Yashar, organized an epic five-day cycling trip from Munich to Venice. Crossing borders from Germany, into Austria, and finally arriving at their Italian destination, the group rode a total of 576 km, peddling through scenic foothills, via crystal clear lakes and magnificent vertical rock faces. It is no surprise that Mario was able to take some pretty impressive photographs of this heroic journey!
Not one to shy away from hard work and long distances, Mario’s Triathlon Group also got in on the celebration, participating in an Ironman tri-race in Istria, Croatia. After completing the swimming leg in a beautiful protected coastal bay, the group raced a very fast loop on their bikes, passing through small picturesque villages and scenic vineyards. The third and final stage was a relatively flat running course, and the group concluded the race triumphantly at the unique finish line in a grand amphitheater.
Not far from Munich, Cristina was also busy celebrating with her InterSkates Group in Frankfurt. Not long after joining InterNations in June last year, Cristina became involved as Consul for the group, for whom she especially enjoys hosting small and intimate gatherings on ice. Despite the cold, the atmosphere is always warm and welcoming, and everybody from beginners to professional skaters are invited to come along. Through their shared hobby, the small group of skaters have become true friends, always continuing on for dinner or drinks once they have skated to their heart’s content. In September, the InterSkates Group had two reasons to celebrate — InterNations 10th anniversary combined with the opening of the ice skating season in Frankfurt. True to form, they dusted off their skates and took to the ice, warming up their muscles for the skating season ahead.
Travelling a little bit further to Singapore, Trisha was busy throwing an InterNations Turns 10 celebration of her own! After becoming bored of the monotonous work and gym routine and eager to make new international friends, Trisha joined InterNations in 2014. A keen water enthusiast with diving experience all over South East Asia, Trisha put her hand up to become Consul and organize regular get-togethers for the Singapore Divers Group. Since then, Trisha has additionally taken on Consul positions in the Surf & Chillout Weekends Group, the Biking Group, as well the Obstacle Course Racing Group, making for an interesting and diverse array of activities she hosts every month. For InterNations 10th anniversary, Trisha organized a trip for her Surf & Chillout Weekends Group to Batam Islands in Indonesia. The group celebrated the momentous milestone by cable skiing and drinking beer in the warm sun.
Thanks to Mario, Cristina, and Trisha for sharing their photographs from their InterNations Turns 10 celebrations, and we look forward to seeing more pictures taken with your new Hero Sessions GoPros.
