What's Puerto Vallarta Like for Expats?

Puerto Vallarta is located on the west coast of Mexico, on the Bay of Banderas. It’s the second biggest city in the state of Jalisco (behind the capital Guadalajara) and is home to over 350,000 people. Puerto Vallarta (shortened to P.V by English speakers) is a very popular tourist spot in Mexico, both for foreign visitors as well as weekend visitors from nearby Guadalajara. In fact, over 50% of the city’s workforce is employed in the tourist industry and is responsible for over half the town’s economic income. Puerto Vallarta has some of the nicest beaches in the region, but aside from this you can visit dramatic rock formations (the Púlpito and Pilitas) as well as he Church of our Lady of Guadalupe — a stunning building in the city center. Puerto Vallarta has not been dragged into to some of the problems that other parts of Mexico have faced in recent years and remains a safe place to live and visit.

InterNations is the largest global network for expatriates, with communities in 420 cities across the globe. Get to know fellow internationals in your city, before you're moving, or when traveling somewhere and never feel like a stranger. InterNations makes it easy for you to stay in touch with your expat friends, both online and offline, so you can grow your network of friends and contacts from all over the world. Whether they live in San Diego or Havana, InterNations allows you to be close to them even if they are miles away.
