Additional Information for Expats on Pamplona

Pamplona is a city in northern Spain and is the capital of the province of Navarre. The city is an ancient Roman city, serving as a base for General Pompey (hence Pamplona) in his civil wars in the region. Today, the city boasts an excellent quality of life for its inhabitants, ranking among the top cities in Spain overall. Pamplona is a city full of culture. Of course, the San Fermin festival (which includes the world-famous bull-running) is a major event on the calendar, but aside from this there are some excellent examples of architecture as well as a fantastic culinary scene at play in Pamplona too. Pamplona is of course located in the Basque Country, so as a result you might find that Spanish is not well spoken here. Instead Basque is often used by the locals, so it is useful to learn Basque as well as Spanish. Incidentally, Basque is one of the oldest languages in Europe and is completely unique and unrelated to any other tongue on the continent. Meet up with other expats using InterNations and get the answers to questions such as these.
